Frequently asked questions
Can you add a waterfall to an existing pool?
Often yes, but it depends on the shell and the plumbing. Adding a waterfall requires new plumbing lines, a dedicated pump, and structural connection to the pool. It's usually most efficient to add water features during a full pool remodel — see pool remodeling.
What's the difference between a spa and a hot tub?
An integrated spa is built into the pool structure — same water system, spillover into the pool, unified plumbing. A hot tub is a standalone unit with its own shell and equipment. Integrated spas look and function as part of the pool; hot tubs are moveable furniture.
Are waterfalls loud?
That depends on design. A big rock waterfall dropping four feet into the pool is meant to be heard. A sheer descent is a whisper. Bubblers barely register. We tune the sound to how you'll use the space.
Do water features add to the pool operating cost?
A small amount for the dedicated pump when the feature is running. Modern variable-speed pumps and automation let you run features only when you're using the pool, so the annual cost impact is modest.
